Whenever anyone saw him and Nai together, they always wrongly assumed and he and Gareki were friends.
That old doctor had been the one to start it, Gareki thinks. Him with his wimpy ideas about Nai being important to Gareki
because they were the 'best of friends'.
He doesn't really know how wrong he was.
Nai isn't Gareki's best friend. Hell, he's not even Gareki's friend.
Gareki is very picky about the relationship labels he gives out to the people around him, and Nai is definitely not a friend.
Gareki's friends are (reluctantly) Yogi, Tsukumo, and Tsubame. They're the people who've been there for him, and who (though he may deny it) he cares about.
Nai doesn't fall under his friendship category– not because Gareki doesn't care about him– but because Gareki cares too much.
Nai can't be his friend because Gareki doesn't think about strangling his friends while tightly hugging them. Nai can't be his friend
because Gareki doesn't hover around his friends, wanting everything and nothing to just chain their wrists together.
Nai cannot be his friend because, when it came to his friends, Gareki would be fine if they left him. If Nai leaves though, Gareki
honestly doesn't know what he would do. It was painful enough to just think about the boy pushing him away– not needing him
anymore– but the thought of Nai just up and leaving him? The emotions that constrict his heart at the thought, are the emotions
that he refuses to take a second glance at.
Nai isn't his friend.
Nai is something more than the word friend could ever be.
Not that Gareki would ever tell him, of course.
Gareki knows the definition of enemy pretty well.
For Circus, there's Kafka and Valga, and probably a whole other armada or secret race that Gareki hasn't met yet.
But Gareki also knows that everyone has their own personal enemy.
Yogi's, for example, is Dr. Akari, Tsukumo's enemies are the bugs of the world, and he's pretty sure that the shitty
fake four-eyes' enemies is everything good and sane– who knows with him really.
If you would ask Gareki who or what his enemies are, he'd tell you that it's the whole Kafka/Valga organization.
(Though that statement wouldn't be a lie, per say, it wouldn't also be the whole truth either. When it came to enemies–
sure Gareki hated the whole shitty monster-hybrid organization, but the number one things on his list are the things that made
[or will make] Nai cry.)
A/N: another day, another set of drabbles crying
i wish i could put their relationship into actual words, but the feels that they have for each other are difficult to explain so i'm sorry for whatever this is ;_;
anyways, reviews are appreciated(:
